Vacation Day 2: Golden Spike National Historic Site

Wednesday morning, we woke up at the La Quinta in Salt Lake City, ate their free breakfast and loaded the car back up.  We're heading North, Miss Tessmacher!

Oooh, mountains.  Looks just like Florida.
David's plan was to take a slight detour once passed Brigham City.  We headed west to the Golden Spike National Historic Site.

This is the location where the two companies working to complete the transcontinental railroad met on May 10, 1869; one of the greatest achievements of the 19th century.

The Jupiter

What a cool steam engine train.

After spending some time here, we headed back to the car and were on our way northeast.  Jackson, we come!
